Nicht jeder mag Rap, trotzdem höre ich mir das an, um mir selbst ein Urteil zu bilden.
Im Volksmund auch "Toleranz" genannt.

Gen Y's "Illmatic"? Probably too big a call to make but the acclaim that has come to this album is something I haven't seen since "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy". First time I heard it, eh. 2nd time I heard it, eh. 3rd time, wait there's something in this. Every subsequent listen, oh this actually really is that good. Kendrick's flow, lyrics, beats, it's all so good. It does drag on a little near the end, but before that it's hit after hit after hit. Get onto this.

I'm probably not the best to critique this because I'm not much into Hip-Hop at all. But this was next on my listening list. It's definitely a good listen, cohesive, with good beats and strong, thought-provoking lyrics. What separates this for me is that Kendrick does not rely on guest appearances, he holds his own and makes the listener want to listen all on his own. While nothing really jumps out at me, I can see why this is such a critical darling and I did vibe to several of the tracks on here. Enjoyable album. 4/6.

spätestens ab der Hälfte des Albums geht's dann qualitativ
doch mehr und mehr darnieder....schade, ansonsten
wäre ne knappe 5 hier durchaus dringelegen!

schlicht ein meisterwerk, dieses debüt-album von king kendrick. viele überragende Songs, doch "swimming pools" gehört zu einem der besten rap-tracks aller zeiten.

Wenn mich Leute nach meinem absoluten Lieblingsrapalbum fragen, antworte ich immer mit "Good Kid, M.a.a.d City". Das 2. Album von Kendrick Lamar fasziniert mich bis heute noch, und ich entdecke immer wieder neues. Die Produktion, welche zum Grossteil von der Hiphop Legende "Dr. Dre" übernommen wurde, ist einfach grandios. Man hat diesen 90er G-Funk Westcoast Vibe, jedoch mit einem modernen Touch (es tönt auf keinen Fall veraltet). Auch bei den Featuregästen treffen Oldschoollegenden wie MC Eiht, Pharell Williams oder auch Dr. Dre auf damalige Newcomer wie Jay Rock oder Drake. Die Geschichte, welches durch das ganze Album erzählt wird, ist sehr interessant. Obwohl Kendrick lyrisch sehr stark ist, wirkt es auf keinster Weise anstrengend, ganz im Gegenteil. Kendrick bringt oftmals eine sehr lockere und angenehme Stimmung, so dass man zum Song abgehen kann, aber sich auch mal hinsetzen kann um den Sinn des Songs zu überdenken (ja, ich rede von Swimming Pools). Dieses Album zeigt mir jedes mal, was ich so sehr am Genre Hip-Hop liebe.

Top. Alles sehr experimentell. Sehr mutig.
