Seriously though, this is very irritatingly catchy and will probably be one of those songs that people will either love to bits or absolutely hate. Also it sounds very Balkan inspired.

This was a #1 hit in the UK, but they gave it the right treatment of not letting it overstay its welcome, remaining in the top 50 for only 13 weeks. I say this because thanks to some curious promotion, Australia didn't get the same luck, and I'm certain that I'm not the only one who had more than enough of it months before it finally left the charts for good.

That said, I'm certainly not against anything that really goes on its own gut, not trying to insert itself into any obvious zeitgeist. The story I heard is that BBC R1 randomly picked up the track and it subsequently exploded out of that, and considering the rather eclectic variety of music they playlist (even if our national broadcaster did it too, it's so weird to me that a station which plays The Vamps & One Direction a whole heap, actually playlisted Pulled Apart By Horses in 2014), so this well and truly feels like one of the biggest fluke hits in recent times.

And understandably so as it definitely has its charms and it's not something that would just glide past you. Björk is a common reference point, and what makes that fascinating is that it's really hard to imagine her doing something like this, which makes it extraordinarily funny to me. Potential problem though: it's anchoring this with too much backing on the same tune. If you compare it to "We No Speak Americano", that track actually has way more variation in its beat, so a missed opportunity there. 3.4

Überraschender Erfolg im UK, die Nummer tönt für mich nämlich nicht nach einem Hit. Interessant ist die Mischung trotzdem, wenn auch die Idee nicht neu ist.

Yeah, I am one of those ones who absolutely love this. Incredibly catchy and hard to get out of your head. Just an all round fun song to hear when you're out. The female singer sounds so much like Bjork as well.

In Verbindung mit dem amüsanten Video kann ich eine 4 rechtfertigen, denn es hat tatsächlich etwas, das mich auf angenehme Art belustigt. Finde es jetzt auch nicht einmal wirklich übertrieben aufdringlich, muss ich sagen.

▒ Mede dankzij "Rob Stenders" is dit nummer van "Sam And The Womp" in de Nederlandse hitlijsten terrecht gekomen, augustus 2012 !!! Tijdens de Olympische Spelen werd het veel gedraaid door hem op "3FM" !!! Ook op de Oranje camping in Londen was het plaatje erg populair !!! Het nummer wordt gezongen en is geschreven door de Nederlandse "Bloem de Ligny" uit Haarlem die al jaren in Londen woont ☺!!!

Eigentlich mag ich diesen Balkan-Pop sehr gerne, aber die Stimme gefällt mir nicht wirklich, das Ganze wirkt etwas chaotisch, aber noch akzeptabel!
Ich muss hier erhöhen, der Song klingt wirklich für Chartsverhältnisse äusserst interessant und das gar die 1 in UK dringelegen ist, halte ich für eine Sensation, hätte ich nie für möglich gehalten!

Interessanter Song, mal was anderes. Solche Songs sollten mal in die Schweizer Charts kommen und nicht der ewige Latinoschrott.

Nummers met een toeters krijgen altijd een sterretje extra. Verder doet het me een beetje denken aan die plaat van Azealia Banks maar dan compleet anders. Toch wel aardig.

Ik weet eigenlijk nog niet echt wat ik van dit rare plaatje moet vinden. Vooralsnog maar het voordeel van de twijfel. 4 sterren, als zou 3 misschien ook wel voldoende waardering zijn.

Quite bizzare, with obnoxious lyrics and annoyingly repetitive vocals. The trumpets however is quite likeable and I appreciate the creativity they've tried with that part.

Love this song. Hands down my favourite of 2012 and one of my favourites of all time. Love how the balkan influences and the trumpet are mixed with electro pop and drum and bass production. So catchy, addictive and unique. Loads of fun!

Jetzt zur warmen Zeit schießen auch Songs wie dieser wieder aus dem Boden. Obwohl der ja schon länger zu existieren scheint. Hört sich so typisch nach nem üblichen Sommersong an, dass er nicht hervorsticht. Ging deshalb wohl an mir vorbei.

Netter Sommerpop ohne Besonderheiten.

Der Song unterhält mich bestens und ging mir nicht mehr aus dem Ohr raus – Manchmal darf es einfach nur Spaß machen und das ist hier gegeben, hier nervt mich noch nicht mal das Getröte und Sax, Trompete etc. sind bei mir sehr oft ein Garant durchzufallen.
